JUNE BRIDE IS COMING

Aside from the opening of classes for school year 2008-2009, another event for the month of JUNE are WEDDINGS. JUNE ushers in CEBU JUNE BRIDES and plenty of wedding toasts.  This photo was taken in FORT SAN PEDRO, CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES.

JUNE WEDDINGS were originated by the Romans in showing respect to Juno, the goddess of marriage. Thus getting married in June meant blessings. In the past, getting married in June also meant that if the wife conceived, she would be giving birth before harvest time and that she would be well enough to work the fields by then (courtesy of www.wedding-blog.net).
