
A photographer’s concern in any engagement is to capture moments that would, looking at a single photo, brings back time. The photo will tell the viewer the motiff of the event. With action going on, ample preparation and timing will be the key to a successful coverage. A photographer could never expect to capture precious moments out of a pre-composed pose but mostly of candid situations. It is on these moments that a photographer will have to be very keen on, lest miss the opportunity.
A wonderful blend of pre-composed photos and candid ones will give a fuller story to any event. I recently did a gig to cover a company’s beach outing and my candid shots got more praises than those of a pre-composed one. Here are some of the learnings I would like to share:

he stage is set for the year’s most anticipated fight in the ring as the spotlights shines for two of boxing’s biggest stars. Manny Pacquiao, the pound-for-pound boxing king, once again stands to claim another piece of history, to accomplish something no fighter has done, which is to claim the lineal championship in a fourth division. A victory would mean that he will be considered the “real” champion in a fourth division, not just a mere titleholder, the way he was when he claimed his junior featherweight belt and lightweight title. If “The Pacman” is pull this one off, he will undoubtedly be one of the greatest boxer the world has ever had. With one simple reason that only the best gets to have six division titles under his waist.

The Supreme Court of the Philippines has released the SEPTEMBER 2008 BAR EXAMINATIONS RESULTS. A total of 6,364 graduates from 109 law schools nationwide took the bar exams held September 7, 14, 21 and 28 last year at the De La Salle University in Manila. 20.58% of those who took the examinations passed or 1,310. Judy Lardizabal of San Sebastian College topped the 2008 Bar Examination held over four Sundays last September, according to results released by the Supreme Court.

They say that people are either creative or critical thinkers. If you majority of the thinking happens in your left brain, then you are a critical thinker. Critical thinkers are those whose train of thought are based on established logical concepts. Creative thinkers, on the other hand, are those who utilizes the right hemisphere of their brain. They are those whose thoughts are leaning to the arts. These are the “out-of-the-box” thinkers.
My entry to photography has been, and is still, an uphill climb. Though some are born to be creative, I have been raised to be methodical, a critical thinker. Composing a shoot, to a creative thinker is second nature, I have to analyze what will make a good photo. And I think that was the challenge that got me to give serious effort for photography. It would be a chance for me to learn and draw inspiration for the works of artists, innovators, natural photographers. And over the months, I have slowly learned techniques I observed from these people. Taking bits from everyone, putting it together to create my own. I have learned to see things at different angles. I am slowly learning to develop creative thinking. But there is much to be learned. I have just scratched the surface.
